What are Root Canals?
A root canal is a procedure that is done to remove the pulp from a damaged or compromised tooth. When this pulp becomes infected by decay or damaged in some way, you might experience pain and severe sensitivity. In order to eliminate this pain without having to fully remove the tooth, we can remove the pulp via a root canal. Root canals are one of the most common procedures performed in the dental field.
Why would a Root Canal be needed?
The reason you might need a root canal is because a tooth has become severely decayed and has infected the inner pulp. If a tooth has broken or cracked, it might have damaged the pulp or left it exposed. If you fail to treat a root canal, you may experience severe and chronic pain as well as sensitivity to hot and cold liquids. Root canals prevent the tooth from having to be extracted.

Who is a candidate for Root Canals?
To determine if a root canal is necessary, we will examine your teeth and take x-rays. The x-rays allow us to see if a tooth’s pulp has been damaged or left exposed. Most often, patients who need a root canal will complain of severe, sharp pain. The best way to eliminate this pain is by performing a root canal to remove the pulp.
What happens during the Root Canal process?
The root canal procedure begins with anesthetic to numb an area of the mouth. We then carefully isolate the tooth using a dental dam. The decay is removed from the tooth and special dental instruments allow us to extract the inner pulp. The canals of the roots are cleaned and filled with a special material. X-rays may be needed before or during the root canal to ensure we are reaching and treating every canal. The dental dam is removed and the tooth filled normally before you leave the office.

what are our patients saying?
Great service, knowledgeable doctor. I visited Optima Dental Spa and was incorrect told the basic service I needed to be provided was not covered by insurance. At Optima they took three unnecessary x-rays. Dr. v was more knowledgeable and didn’t require x-rays to cement my crown back on. Highly recommend him.
Dr. Varadi and his team are absolutely amazing! Dr. V is very thorough and compassionate and leads your experience with step by step process, so there’s no surprises. I would definitely recommend Dr. Varadi and his team.
Dr. Mitchell is a great dentist. He is thorough and I always feel confident that I am getting the best care. His staff are also very good at what they do including periodontal work and insurance management. Dr. Mitchell's practice is an excellent choice.
