What are Dental X-rays?
A dental x-ray is a special radiographic image that allows us to see the details of your oral and dental health. They allow us to find areas of decay, problematic restorations, impacted teeth and even infections. We use the latest technology available to us when it comes to x-rays. This ensures a safer and quicker x-ray experience for you and your loved ones.
Why would Dental X-rays be needed?
There are a multitude of reasons for needing to have x-rays taken. Oftentimes, we take x-rays on new patients and on those who are coming in for checkup appointments. We recommend x-rays prior to surgery and orthodontic treatment. If you come into our office with an emergency, we will suggest having an x-ray taken to identify the issue.

Who is a candidate for Dental X-rays?
Most patients coming into our office are good candidates for x-rays. Before suggesting or taking any type of x-ray image, we will review all of your health and medical history. This allows us to see if you are healthy enough to have intraoral x-rays taken. We recommend x-rays on patients of all ages and for varying needs.
What happens during the Dental X-ray process?
Our professionally trained dental expert will place a light lead apron over your body. This apron is designed to deflect any radiation while it is in use. We then place a small device inside of the mouth and aim the x-ray machine at this area. The image is taken and the process repeated for different areas of the mouth. We can then easily review all of the images that have been taken so that we’re able to provide you with the care that you need. Our goal is to make the x-ray process as quick, simple and comfortable for you as possible. X-rays are even safe for children coming into our office to receive quality care.
