What are Dental Bridges?
A dental bridge is a custom-made restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth. Bridge work is designed to mimic both the feel and look of natural teeth. They offer both cosmetic and restorative benefits, since they help in filling in your smile and improving how you eat and chew. Most bridges can last for decades before replacement is needed.
Why might a Dental Bridge be needed?
The reason you might need a new bridge is because you’re currently missing a tooth. When you’re missing a tooth, it’s not uncommon to feel uncomfortable about the way that you look. Some patients may even find it difficult to eat and chew their favorite foods because of the gap in their smile. Bridges are attached to surrounding teeth to replace what you’re currently missing.

Who is a candidate for Dental Bridges?
The best way for us to determine if a bridge is needed is with an examination. This allows us to see if a tooth is missing and if a bridge can be placed. Bridge work is ideal for patients who either do not want or cannot have dental implants placed. If you have an older bridge, we can remove and then replace it in our office at your own convenience.
What happens during the Dental Bridge procedure?
The bridge procedure begins with local anesthetic that is used to numb an area of the mouth. We file down and shape the two surrounding teeth to properly hold the new bridge. These teeth act as the abutments for the restoration once it’s placed. We then take impressions of your teeth and use these molds to make the customized bridge. You’ll come in for a second appointment to have the permanent bridge placed. We polish and adjust the fit of the bridge to ensure it provides you with years of durable and reliable wear that you can count on.
